We optimized software for scale and lost the floor staff. Skippr puts it back.
Why I'm hunting Skippr AI on Product Hunt today and what I found when I tested it.
Software went self-serve two decades ago, and we quietly accepted the tradeoff. Nobody greets you when you land in a product. Nobody walks you through setup. Nobody notices when you’re stuck on step 3 and about to churn. You get a tooltip, a video, a docs link, and a support form that promises someone will get back to you.
We optimized for scale and lost the floor staff.
Skippr puts that layer back. Think Apple Store Genius Bar energy inside your product, instead of a laminated FAQ binder. A live AI employee, they call them “Buddies” that’s present in real time and handles onboarding, activation, demos, and support like a person would.
Today it launches on Product Hunt, and I’m hunting it. Here’s the deeper look.
Why hasn’t this existed already?
“AI agent in your product” isn’t a new pitch. So why does most of it still feel like a chatbot in the corner?
Because live is hard. A live agent has to respond in real time, a two-second lag that’s fine in a chat window kills a voice conversation. It has to stay accurate against a product that changes weekly. It has to hold context across a long session, not reset every few turns. It has to get subtlety and tone right, because it’s talking to your customers, not your QA team.
And there’s a subtler failure mode the Skippr team is candid about: most agents fail because their operators can’t step back. If you have to keep updating the knowledge base by hand and babysitting the learning loop, you haven’t hired an employee, you’ve hired a dependent. The bar isn’t “can it answer questions.” The bar is: would you trust it alone with your users?
That’s the problem Skippr spent the last year-plus solving, working with design partners on their key use cases: onboarding and product adoption, before opening it up to everyone today.
What impressed me when I tested it
It doesn’t just tell users what to click. It clicks. Built-in browser automation means the agent completes actions on screen, filling forms, navigating flows, running multi-step tasks. It’s the difference between a tour guide and a driver.
It holds an agenda. A session master keeps track of where you are in a long session, a full onboarding, a training, and tracks progress instead of drifting or resetting like most conversational tools. Buddies also keep memory across sessions, so returning users aren’t strangers.
It asks before it drives. This is the part that made me comfortable with the whole idea. Before taking over, the agent proposes what it’s going to do - for bigger tasks it lays out a step-by-step plan and waits for a yes. And it never touches passwords or payment fields; those stay with the user, always.
It speaks 10 languages out of the box, and switches when the user does. Your onboarding works in São Paulo as well as it does in San Francisco.
Setup is genuinely instant. Upload your knowledge base, set your branding and voice, and the agent is live in minutes. Two lines of code to embed it in your product — or, if you have nothing to embed into, share a meeting link and the same agent joins a live session with your customers or team.
A session, end to end
I ran a mock onboarding as a new user. The Buddy greeted me, laid out what we’d cover, and walked me through setup, highlighting where to click when I wanted to do it myself, taking the wheel when I asked it to. When I went off-script with a question, it answered from the knowledge base and then steered us back to the agenda. At the end, the session produced insights for the team: where I hesitated, what I asked, what the recommended next step was.
That last part is quietly the point. This isn’t just help, it’s a layer of your product that sees where every user gets stuck, at scale.
Who it’s for
Any product owner, not just enterprises with integration budgets. Shopify stores, vibe coders, AI-first startups and internal teams. Enterprise customers get deeper options (API and backend actions, deeper knowledge scans, custom guardrails), but the self-serve platform is the full product, not a demo.
