A couple days ago I saw the below post from Yohei (a VC friend of mine) and it spurred an instant reaction from me about the future. Figured I’d share that raw thought with you all in this edition.
Prediction: Every director or VP of product, marketing & sales in the next 1-2 years will directly whip up quick prototypes and share internally when they have new ideas.
Ex: VP Product at AWS or CMO at Ramp (it’ll start in tech & will expand to other industries).
Thanks to vibe coding tools like Bolt.new, v0 by Vercel or Lovable etc.
I shared this idea on Linkedin and it got 40k views and over 12k on X.
My thesis is that: Ideas don’t need to be low fidelity decks waiting on designers to build v1.. they can literally be functioning and clickable prototypes with a few prompts.
A deck takes 1-2 hours, a prototype now takes 10min (once you get prompting skills).
Much easier to get the team aligned on the vision when they can tangibly interact w/ the prototype.
Designers will of course still be relevant and will act as advisors and turn the v1 to v2 based on their craft skills, add finer details and get to the final version.
After I shared this view, a lot of comments poured in where people were saying that this is already happening. That’s amazing. Read below:
Here’s VP of Platform at Coherent: Adam
“I vibe coded an entire platform prototype. The dev team have access to what I've built and it makes handover, specification and prioritization much easier.
Added bonus is I can knock up a new feature, demo it to a few people and have it in the backlog in a matter of days.”
Ryan Dankoff, Sr PM at Walter said:
Agreed with this. Used Vercel most recently to prototype a new feature. It really sped up alignment.
Love to see this trend. What about you? Are you using any of these tools at work yet? If yes, what’s your stack? If not, why not?
PS: This is how I see these AI coding agent tools cross the chasm to mainstream B2B segments.(beyond hobbyists and early stage founders right now) and surpass $1b in revenue in the long run.
The TAM is nearly limitless as long as the tools keep innovating alongside LLMs and activating various personas.
PS2: In case you aren’t following the updates of the world’s largest hackathon I started, the latest count of participants has crossed 82,000. That’s sheer insanity.
Amen! The gap between imagination and execution just disappeared—now the only limit is nerve.
