KP's Column: On Miracles, Audacity To Ship, Fundraising Tips, And My Wins From The Week 🏆
Hey folks,
How was your week? Hope you got the chance to work on something productive and fulfilling.
I capped off a super busy interview season this week at On Deck where we reviewed hundreds of applications for the 2nd cohort of ODNC. After several rounds of reviews and interviews, we are stoked to welcome a hand-picked batch of 110 badass builders to the program. The official kick-off date is July 10th and I’m super excited for the caliber and diversity of talent we’ve been able to attract this time.
Apart from that, this last week I flew to New York City to meet with our leadership team, and it was the 1st time I traveled anywhere outside of Atlanta since March 2020. It was a short and crisp trip and I enjoyed the IRL energy.
Now back to our topics for the week:
QUOTE OF THE WEEK:
“There are two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle.”
Albert Einstein
ARTICLE OF THE WEEK:
Came across this wonderful essay below by Marie Poulin where she states that there’s a key trait that makes successful creators stand out: “audacity to ship”
This resonated deeply with me as I reflect on all the times I’ve felt I wasn’t ready but just shipped my projects anyway. In fact, I also remember how pleasantly surprised I was when I realized nobody cared too much about the tiny flaws I was trying to hide. Shipping 13 no-code projects taught me one thing: Being prolific is more important than being perfect.

THREAD OF THE WEEK:
I’ve been super impressed by the value of well-written threads on Twitter. Here’s a dynamite must-read thread from Romeen on the game of fundraising.
WINS OF THE WEEK: 🏆
Got the chance to hang with so many of my teammates at On Deck on my New York trip. Met with Gonz, Brandon, David, and Erik, etc. This selfie was extra special.
Just had a PR rep approach me on Twitter DMs to get a fast-growing startup founder to appear on the “Build In Public” podcast. The best part? The founder was already on my radar for an interview bc I love the story.
One of my startup ideas on Twitter went viral
Got 100 new applications quickly for this job post we shared for a position we’re hiring at ODNC. If you love no-code and community, please apply here. The application review is still ongoing.
Dropped this mega thread on Bubble and it went viral on Twitter
Helped hunt Glide 2.0 on Product Hunt and it ended up #2 Product Of The Day
Had an amazing July 4th holiday with my 2 favorite Americans 😀 (see below!)
That’s a wrap for the 2nd edition of KP’s Column.
